I've decided that I want to start predicting the winners of the WTC each week, or at least, point out fractals I think should win.  Note: this has absolutely NO bearing on the actual outcome--I just do this because I don't get to vote, and I like to point out fractals that I especially like, which I cannot do under the #Apophysis name.  If any of you have no clue what I'm talking about, jiggy on down here: [link], I plan on doing general commentary, but I'll try not to be negative.

[link] my goodness!  Confused Origins by ~PhaedraCasadio.  Wow!  Would I be able to vote, this one would get my vote.  It's chaotic...but it's absolutely gorgeous.  I don't often see that shade of brown--it's very daring to use it, in my opinion, but it complements the fractal very well.  He also mentioned that it was one of his first works in Apophysis, and it is his first fractal to be uploaded to dA.    Wow!

[link] by *MrEvilFX.  I much prefer the thumb to the full-view on this one.  I finally figured out why: the full-view shows a lot of harshness that the thumb hides.  I would really like this, if the filter radius on this had been upped, as well as the gamma.  Other than that, the composition is wonderful, and the shape of the piece is captured well.

[link] by ~DaletonaDave  I wasn't sure about this one, until I full-viewed it.  From the thumb, it looks a lot like a deviation I did a while ago, [link] .  Maybe it's because they share a name...I like his better, though.  There isn't a lot of shape/form to focus on in the middle, but the texture in the top right and bottom left corners is amazing.

[link] Thus they were unleashed by ~Eel-Ecurb.  Bluntly, this is my second favourite fractal.  The render isn't the greatest (grain), and the cropping maybe isn't as flattering as possible, but this is so awesome because it's so unique.  Very pop art, very modern.

[link] Solar Winds by ~Glimphor  This one also is very unique--the full-view is good and reveals a lot of texture that the thumb doesn't show.  Very trippy when scrolling up and down :giggle:

[link] Last but certainly not least, Nth Dimension by ~Actionjack52.  This was my boyfriend's favourite of the lot, by the way.  We both really like the colors in this fractal.  It's hard to use a full rainbow this brightly and not have it clash.    I think this would be my third place winner.

That's it for this week.  Eventually I'll give in and buy a subscription, and then we'll have nice happy thumbs so everyone can see.  Comments, anyone?

I agree with =banana-tree. I'll be looking at some of these closer after reading your take on them. :)

this is a great thing you're doing.. I sometimes miss some great entries because I only fullview if I find the thumb interesting.. now the ones you feature will get a chance of me at least fullviewing them, if not voting for them since you have a similar taste to mine :D
that's it for now.. you'll see my further comments in my vote anyway.. :P

 Thank you! disclaimer: I don't full-view everything, either. There's a lot of good fractals in the bunch, there always is. I feel bad, because I could say something good for everything, and I end up missing so many!

I like your first and third place picks, but I'm not too keen your other picks. The reason I say this is that there is beauty, but not enough chaos in it, especially ~Glimphor's picture. His style is flashy, but the picture itself is just not chaotic. The same I think could be said for the other two pictures. I respect every one of the pictures you've featured, but some of them just do not represent what this contest is looking for. I hope you accept my criticism in a not-so-harsh way.

Good luck to everyone featured here, though! :)

Ah! That's what I forgot to talk about--how they pertained to the theme. And the only one I'd have to disagree on is my 2nd place pick--I still think that one's pretty chaotic. But yeah, the others aren't so chaotic. I'll have to remember that next time I do this.
